Welcome Back to Campus!

Today marks the beginning of the SECOND week of school. Whew! It has been a busy couple of days, but we are very excited about how God has already worked.

The first two days on campus, we try to meet and get connected with students through ourSurvey Booth. We surveyed over 3,000 students! It was a blast! Below is a picture of some of the students who were helping us at the survey booth.

After students complete the surveys, we follow all the surveys up! We desire to build relationship with the students and share the good news of the Bible with them. Many of the students in our ministry come with us to do this and already over 100 people have heard about Jesus Christ! Praise God! Bob and I feel especially blessed as we BOTH had the privilege of seeing students compete their lives to Christ. PLEASE PRAY for these students spiritual growth-that they would continue to pursue God through prayer and His Word!

Another HUGE highlight has been that over 725 students came to our first weekly meeting!!!! That is incredible! It is amazing to see the heightened spiritual interest here at K-State! Thanks for praying!

In family news...Bob celebrates his 31st Birthday this THURSDAY! (He's excited because a student last night thought Bob and I were the same age-25!)

Thanks for thinking of praying for our ministry!

Blessings,
Bob and Alissa

We moved!

In case you haven't heard...we've MOVED!

We absolutely love our house! Although we have now lived here almost two months, I don't think a day goes by when I don't THANK GOD for how richly he has blessed us.

It has been such a blast to have students into our home; I think they love it just as much as we do! We have A TON more space and enjoy being able to have 20 or more students over comfortably in our home. What a blessing!

Thanks so much for praying as we searched and searched. Your prayers were definitely answered!

If you're ever in Manhattan, feel free to stop by...we'd love to have you over!

Much love, Bob and Alissa

Investigative Bible Discussions

Friends,

God continues to work in amazing ways at KSU. Bob and I just wrapped up a four week investigative Bible discussion with AZD sorority and Lambda Chi fraternity. An investigative Bible discussion (or IBD) is a non-threatening, fun environment in which students can come to learn about the basics of God. There are many different ways to do an investigative Bible discussion, but we chose to use the theme of relationships. We looked at the differences between boys and girls, love versus infatuation, and sex. We were amazed at the turn out of students! Below is a picture of some of the students who attended the IBD:

Bob and I are excited for the way we can use the momentum created by this Bible discussion to build relationships and share the gospel.

Please pray for the two investigative Bible discussions that will take place soon:

1. Bob and the Lambda Chi men will be completing a study called "Building Foundations." This study looks at the basics of the gospel and walking with God.

2. Alissa and the AZD women will be completing a study called "Jesus cares for women." This study looks at four snapshots when Jesus speaks directly to women.

Thank you for praying as we continue to labor here on the campus of KSU! God is definitely changing lives through your prayers!

Love, Bob and Alissa

SMC- Student Thoughts

Friends,

Wanted to share with you some thoughts from students about SMC, our annual winter conference.

I was extremely encouraged by the number of students who were present at SMC from all over the Midwest, and how they had an intense growing passion to gain more knowledge about Jesus and how to grow closer to to Him. A lesson that is still striving with me is from the last night we were there. The speaker spoke on the status of missions and I was blown away by a story he told that he once received a phone call saying that a mission to Morocco was being cancelled because 5 students could not be found with interest to go serve over there. My heart breaks more and more now as I wait to graduate so that I can be one that goes to those nations for Christ!- Tyler, senior Alpha Tau Omega

SMC was a weekend that has forever changed my life. Speaker Sean Vallendorf taught me about being a man who is pursuing Christ. I was convicted and challenged; and loved it! My life will never be the same after attending this awesome conference.- Doug, junior Alpha Gamma Rho

"SMC came at the perfect time to remind me to keep running for Christ. Life can get really overwhelming and distracting, but the inspirational speakers and participants were just what I needed to head into the new year with an eternal perspective in mind. It was also a great excuse for a road trip and a wonderful chance to get in a lot of girl time with my sorority sisters!"- Lauren, sophomore Alpha Xi Delta

God continues to do amazing things. We're excited to see what He does next!

Thanks so much for your prayers and support!

Spring Semester, Here We Come!

Friends,
The ice is slowly melting, basketball is in full swing, and the students are slowly trickling back to Manhattan. We are so excited because this all means that school starts tomorrow!

Bob and I are very excited for all that God has in store for us this semester. We know that we have a God who delights and blesses small beginnings...so we are eager to get started! Here are some things you can be trusting God for with us:

1. An investigative Bible Discussion group with Lambda Chi Fraternity and Alpha Xi Delta sorority. It is focused on relationships- we hope to share Biblical truth on such hot topics as love, dating, marriage, and sex. We really hope to meet more students and have more opportunities to share the gospel through this!

2. Our first StuMo night- TOMORROW!

3. Bob and I will be MOVING in early February. We are very excited to use the house which God has entrusted to us to bless and love students.

Also, enjoy the picture of ALL the K-Staters at SMC. WOW! It is a ton of students! About 250!

Thanks for praying!

SMC- StuMo Conference 2010

Friends and Family,

So many exciting things to share! Bob and I recently returned from SMC, StuMo's annual winter conference. Thank you SO MUCH for your prayers. God definitely did amazing things in our students' lives while we were there.

Here's a few highlights:

1. We took over 250 K-Staters with us!
2. Many students prayed for the world, specifically India, for the first time!
3. Bob led 2 GREAT workshops- one on the five aspects of personal ministry and the other on the importance of love in evangelism.
4. We had 8 students 100% commit to going to India this summer!
5. Meleah, Kristin, and Taylor (3 girls involved in the ministry) all took major steps forward in their walk with God.
6. Jeff (a student involved in the ministry) is so excited to apply what he has learned to help disciple guys in his fraternity.

Again, thanks so much for your prayers!

StuMo Food Drive

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving break with family, friends, and good food. Bob and I had a great time with his and my family and ate way too much food! :)
Here's a quick update about what has been happening at KSU:
StuMo has the privilege of being one of the largest student organizations on campus at K-State and we wanted to use this fact to bless others. Two weeks ago, StuMo asked everyone who attended our large group meeting to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to a local food pantry, the Flint Hills Bread Basket. This year the Flint Hills Bread Basket has received the same amount of donations as last year but has THREE TIMES as much need. Whoa.
When we dropped off our food at Flint Hills, we had over 477 pounds! One Bible Study alone brought 270 cans. Way to go!

Below are pictures of the truck that took the food to Flint Hills. It was loaded down! :)

Upcoming things to pray for:

1. Sunday, December 6- Bob and I host my freshman Bible Study and his Discipleship group over for dinner. Pray for great conversation and a fun time!
2. December 9-11- Bob and I travel to Kansas City for our annual December Staff Conference. Please pray for safe travel, lots of learning, and Bob's workshop on evangelism.
3. With only 3 weeks left of school, please pray that we would "make the most of every opportunity." (Colossians 4:5) Please pray the God would continue to draw people to himself.
You all are a blessing to us! Thanks so much for your support and prayer!
